So Good For Me
So Good For You - So Good For You
Monday, 09 May 2011 07:47

To successfully improve my life one step at a time I have to nourish my physical, etheric, astral bodies, and my ego. In other words I will achieve happiness, health, and harmony when I take care of my body, my energy, my soul, and my spirit.

1. Step

Physical:

My body is made up of 70 % water. I replace all drinks including sodas, coffee, and juice with water. For an easier transition I drink herbal teas sweetened with agave or raw honey. The iced Red Zinger Tea from Celestial Seasonings is my favorite.

Etheric:

Using a brush, a piece of paper, and a water jar I experiment with watercolor.

Astral:

In a quiet place sitting comfortably I close my eyes and imagine my future. I dream big!

Ego:

Before bedtime I write down five things I am thankful for.

Even More About Transitioning The Only Child To Older Sibling
Waldorf - Waldorf Education
Tuesday, 27 July 2010 13:58
I do like this back post about this topic:  http://theparentingpassageway.com/2009/01/11/transitioning-the-only-child-to-older-sibling/  but today I wanted to add a few things to that post. I still think siblings are the best gift you can give your child (see back post here: http://theparentingpassageway.com/2009/11/01/siblings-are-the-most-precious-gift/) .  However, this is not to say the transition point of this is all roses.  [...]

A Brief Note About Waldorf Third Grade
Waldorf - Waldorf Education
Monday, 26 July 2010 20:53
This evening, I was thinking and meditating and contemplating what blocks I am going to choose and/or design  to finish our Third Grade year (I am now up to mid-March in planning).  And this came to me: The Third Grade year really is about how we, as an individual, find a home here on Earth [...]

Celebrating Children Who Say “No!”
Waldorf - Waldorf Education
Sunday, 25 July 2010 21:40
Sometimes we can smile with a small toddler as they reach for something in an obvious gesture of embrace but are still saying “no”. However, in general, many parents frequently feel frustrated when small children start using the word “no” (and yes, I do know this is because your precious one has said “no” literally [...]

Here in the Deep South, many homeschooling families are starting around the end of August. If you think about it, that doesn’t leave too many weeks left s left to plan and do things.  In my personal planning for homeschooling a third grader and a kindergartner, I am up to the middle of February.  We [...]

Summertime Bickering
Waldorf - Waldorf Education
Wednesday, 21 July 2010 08:08
Does it seem to anyone else that the amount of sibling bickering goes up in the Summer? I think this increase could  be due to a combination of a changing/different rhythm to the day, (possibly one where  less structure is present than during the school year) and the  weather where the children are outside and [...]

The Beginning Is Now
Waldorf - Waldorf Education
Tuesday, 20 July 2010 12:06
The phone has been ringing off the hook this week for my volunteer work as a breastfeeding support counselor.  I have been one busy person fielding calls! These calls are all related to breastfeeding, but many times the crux of the matter I find  is more related to parenting than breastfeeding.  How do we let [...]

The Four Temperaments
Waldorf - Waldorf Education
Friday, 28 May 2010 20:44
In Waldorf Education, the four temperaments are seen as a tool to help us understand the child as a “whole” human being.  The idea of the four temperaments was not new in Steiner’s time;  it came about during the Greek times and again during the Middle Ages (some of you may remember hearing about the [...]

Changing Our Parenting Language
Waldorf - Waldorf Education
Sunday, 23 May 2010 21:02
There was recently an excellent conversation on Mrs. Marsha Johnson’s list ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) about three-year-olds and “temper tantrums”.  One of the wonderful mothers on Mrs. Johnson’s list emailed me and stated how she always felt badly about that phrase: “temper tantrum”. I have to agree with her.  If you think carefully about it, that is a [...]

You can find Part One to this post here:  http://theparentingpassageway.com/2010/05/14/how-to-plan-waldorf-homeschool-second-grade-part-one/ I broke my “no-photographs” rule simply because there are not many blogs with examples of Waldorf Second Grade and I wanted to show some sample works.  January: More poetry. Snowy Village Math from Marsha Johnson’s files and I told Russian Fairy Tales at the end [...]

Infusing Waldorf Elements Into Your Christian Homeschool
Waldorf - Waldorf Education
Thursday, 20 May 2010 11:41
This is a big topic, and may take several posts.  You may need a cup of tea for the length of this post!    The question from the field is how to integrate Waldorf elements into a predominantly Christian focus in the First Grade – such as how one would teach letters through the Saints instead [...]
